As someone who is from Owdham in Lancashire, which now comes under Greater Manchester. The Working Bee has a firm place in my heart, represents the hard work, community spirit, and industrial history of the city's people. My home town was a hive of industry, be it coal mining, cotton spinning, often producing more cotton than France and Germany combined.
Notable achievements by the town include invention of the tubular bandage, the first fried chip, test tube baby, advanced battery & mining tech etc.

Platt Brothers were a large scale industrial textile machinery, the firm supplied spinning, carding, and weaving machines worldwide.

The company bought the rights to the groundbreaking Type G automatic loom under his family business from Sakichi Toyoda for a sum of £100,000. Sakichi gave the proceeds to his son, Kiichiro Toyoda, who used the capital to fund research, travel abroad, and pioneer vehicle manufacturing, eventually leading to the creation of the first passenger car (the Model AA) in 1936 and the formal establishment of Toyota Motor Company in 1937.

@SheffieldMan1976 I've always wondered whether or not bees consciously know that. 🤔 Stinging is only actually fatal when stinging mammals - they can sting other insects safely. This makes me wonder whether the sting is "designed" for infighting or defence against other insects…and when they sting a mammal they don't actually realise until it's too late 🤔
