@Rachel_Scope I once tried Spinach based on watching Popeye, didn't like it, same when I tried to eat a Radish based on watching Fraggle Rock.

I would highly recommend you try this curry @SheffieldMan1976! I'm picky with food and it's the only way I can eat it. Here's the recipe https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/creamy-halloumi-tomato-curry . We just substitute the chopped tomatoes for passata as I'm funny about tomatoes.

The strangest cheese I've tried was called Mimolette, which has little mites crawling on/in it. They're introduced to the cheese before it's left to mature and they eat their way into the cheese which creates the holes and helps to aerate it. When you get the finished cheese it comes with what looks like dust on it, but if you look closely the individual specks move around because each speck is a little individual insect

I do love a bit of mature cheese with strawberry jam on a cracker. And I used to like cheese on a digestive biscuit too so a ginger snap isn't too far from that.

You have a stronger stomach than me @66Mustang! What did it taste like?

@Rosie_Scope it was a really nice strong flavour - you know when a cheese is so strong it makes your mouth feel prickly?

Luckily you don't eat the mites, they're on the outside of the cheese and you leave a good inch of the rind as it's extremely hard 😆 (The cheese is often nicknamed cannonball cheese!!)

That actually sounds like something I would like @66Mustang. Not sure I could get past the little crawling creatures, but I love a strong cheese!

I went to the Cheese Museum in Amsterdam once. They have free samples out in the shop and it's glorious. Has anyone got somewhere like that near them?

I definitely hover around the free cheese samples if I spot any anywhere 😁

If you go to a Waitrose with a deli counter, they sometimes give out free pieces of cheese at the end of the day to save it going in the bin!

In Tesco, I saw a product in the cheese aisle called "Quark"

I'm not sure what it is, but I know CERN spent $5 billion building the Large Hadron Collider in Switzerland with the hope of finding quarks, but Tesco is selling them for £1.75 🤔

Haha @66Mustang, they should have checked the cheese aisle first, would have saved them a lot of cash and hassle 😂

Jokes aside, I've tried Quark and it's a cottagey cheese but smoother, a bit like Fromage Frais or Skyr.

Is anyone a cottage cheese fan? I've tried it, but I can never get past the odd texture of it.

Ugghhh Cottage Cheese. My wife has it on CrackerBread. 2 textures my head doesn't like.

I tried it once … I swear my mind was screaming at me … you know I've got problems and you do this to me !! Although being called a drama queen was quite hurtful 🙄

Quark … meant to be a cream cheese substitute. Not sure in what world. Totally dissolved to water when I used it to make a pasta dish. Plus the texture when eaten cold. No no

Oof, @WelshBlue that sounds like a punishment, not a meal!

Quark's not a great substitute for anything really, is it? I just ate it a bit like a yoghurt rather than trying to make do cheese things.

I used to eat tubes and tubes of Primula when I was little - The one in the toothpaste-style tube. Chive flavour was my favourite. I used to get told off for squeezing it straight from the tube into my mouth 😂 Not sure dairy products should ever be coming out of a tube really, but little me was a real squeezy cheese fiend!

@Rosie_Scope … I must admit to having had a few Primula butties in the past. I tried the Chives one again last year … strange how the taste buds change. I found it very bitter and metalicy

Showing my age now but the old supermarket Kwik Save did a cheese spread in a jar. Bright orange … but it was sooo good. I ate jars of that. No wonder I'm on statins; my past love of cheese, cream etc 😉

I will eat any cheese at all - the only cheese that I find doesn't satisfy my needs is Mozzarella (and similar) - I find it way to bland - In fact, I don't rate it as a cheese at all - it should be classed a tastless rubber !

I do like Brie - preferably melted

I can see where you're coming from with mozzarella @Wibbles but I love loads of it on a pizza or stonebaked garlic bread.

What's the opinion on having cheese with Christmas cake? I'm a hard no. I don't even understand why it's a thing!
