I don't hate any countries - the bias towards Korea was evident.

oh also pommes my mom & her family lived in austrila for a couple of years, my half brother was concieved there, his father (moms husband - I have a very confusing family) helped buidl one of the major highways there.

it was a jokey name for people who moved there & moaned about the ehat, food etc

zero more or less other than a jokey observation

Argentina played better and deserved to win, but I do wish they had less dives and play acting.

I wish it wasn't so Messi focussed, I had to watch the game on mute because of the bias of the commentators.

I'm looking forward to England's game tomorrow. Who else will be watching?

Argentina coped well with Austria tonight, I thought they would struggle. I don’t think Austria ran at them like they run at other teams, maybe they were filled with awe about playing Argentina. Argentina dealt with them well and played at a quicker tempo than their lethargic showing against Algeria

Indeed and I think this happened at the last World Cup too. I was impressed with them last night though after a rather abject showing against Algeria. Yes they won 3-0 but Algeria might as well have had less numbers on the pitch, they didn’t cause them anywhere near enough problems. At times Argentina played walking football in their own half and Algeria watched and if it wasn’t for Messi’s shots I’m not sure who else in that team had the initiative to go for goal. So I thought they would encounter big problems against a proper running team in Austria but that didn’t materialise which I found slightly bizarre. Maybe they were filled with awe. I’m sure another running team like Japan wouldn’t feel inhibited though and would run at Argentina. The jury is still out for me on Argentina

As for Portugal I think they’re costing themselves this World Cup by continuing to start Ronaldo. They have so many great attacking players that are unable to play free-flowing Cape Verde style football because they seem inclined or micro-managed to slow the game down to Ronaldo’s pace to give him the ball to score. It’s upsetting in some ways, I’m sure Portugal could be winning some of these games 6-0 without Ronaldo in that team

I hope Japan win the World Cup :)

    Afternoon all,

    This evening we have:

    6pm (BST): Portugal (@luvpink and @mellybobs) v Uzbekistan (@JanePS)

    9pm (BST): England (@Tony60 and @Ainger13) v Ghana (@StoryGuy)

    12am (BST): Panama (@Amberpearl) v Croatia (@Rachel_Scope and @tsureshan)

    3am (BST): Colombia (@Bluebell21 and @elle19) v DR Congo (@bri1959)

    Any predictions?

I'm thinking Portugal, England, Croatia wins and Colombia and DR Congo might have a hard-fought draw.

Messi did that staying forward routine a lot in the last world cup in Qatar as well. It didn't seem to cause them too many problems then though. 🙂

Poor, really poor from England. Why can’t they just run forwards like Japan
