Disabled people who can and want to work are being held back. Not because they cannot do the work, but because work is failing them.  

Too often, rights to adjustments are ignored. Workplaces are inaccessible, and outdated attitudes mean disabled people are undervalued and overlooked.  

It does not have to be this way.  

2 years ago, the Government said they'd make disability pay gap reporting mandatory for all large employers. They've taken some steps towards this, but they have not yet delivered on their pledge and made it law. 

This is more than a tick-box exercise. Pay gap reporting drives action and creates accountability.

The thing is though, I've always said that "reasonable adjustments" are a copout because what's reasonable is open to interpretation at the employer's discretion, which almost never benefits the potential or actual employee.

Yeah, I can completely understand what you're saying here. I hope things really change for the better. I do feel like we're making small strides towards it but lots of work to do to change the world.

I think by far the biggest issue is that true WFH is practically non existent, thats got to be the main barrier.

Indeed, and with the limited Sales gigs available in WFH, they all have the same problem, most of the work's evenings or weekends because that's when the customers are available.

Completely agree. I can imagine WFH opens a lot of doors for a lot of people. It's such a shame that such few organisations offer it.
