Old Buildings In Your Area
I happened upon an interesting picture of the George Hotel and Pilgrims' Inn, Glastonbury, built in the 15th century.
it reminded me of the oldest building in Dundee, the city of my birth. St Mary's Tower, it too was built in the 15th century.

What was Oldham Library. I used borrow books and records from there when I was a kid.

Do you think so? I think it's got a lot of character and charm! It's funny how people see the same things differently. I bet it looks amazing in person. Your pic is great too, although it kind of reminds me of a school I went to.
Great pictures and great idea for a topic, I'll try and find some from my area tomorrow. I don't actually know what the oldest would be and am keen to look into it now.

It's obviously not a 15th century medieval building like the George, but calling a 140 year old Grade II listed Victorian landmark a 'new build' is a bit of a stretch, lol. It's a beautiful piece of local heritage in its own right.

I've never seen a school looking like that before. It is interesting how differently people see things, some people can see historic character in centuries of built up grime, nothing wrong with that at all, while others prefer a historical building to look clean and cared for.

Our church is 1600s, brilliant view from the top. It is said they use to execute people at the top and there’s a building at the side of it that housed one of the Guy Fawkes people. This thread could go on forever, people love old buildings.

Dundee doesn't have many really old buildings, what the English didn't burn down, the city council demolished in the 1960s!
For example, in the 1960s, the council demolished a house occupied by General Monck, the military commander sent by Oliver Cromwell to stop a Scottish army supporting Charles II.

It wouldn't let me post a picture. And if I answer a post, I can't get back to the main menu without crashing it out and signing back in. Scope need to get something done about it and the fact that the internal mail still isn't working, but you can still mail scope through it. They need to say it isn't coming back or they can fix it, I believe they don't want to fix it and it's been stopped. I've got to where I don't want to post anymore, it's not worth the hassle.

Some beautiful old buildings shared here. I LOVE a bit of gothic architecture or anything a bit wonky and characterful. I think the grime of some buildings adds to the character ☺️ This is St Bartholomew's Gate in London. Survived the great fire of London in 1666!
