Should medical records transfer between GP surgeries ?

I have sent three emails out to three different authorities requesting access to old medical records from hospital, one emailed back asking for ID which is good, just have to wait on the other two. I just want to fill in gaps in my medical history.

I have wrote to SAR Kings College Hospital, Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust SAR and Northern Care Alliance SAR, asking for any pertinent information that they hold on me that can help to fill in the gaps in my medical history.

The thing with me is that I have moved around a lot since I was born, born in Lambeth, Spent 24 years living in Oldham, Three Years in Kirkby Lonsdale, just over 11 years in Chesterfield and 22 months in Derby. A lot of things in my life mean I can’t trust what has been told to me by my parents, fair to say I have not seen or spoke to them since October 2015. They had a very large lever arch folder on all of my medical records and letters dating back to when I was born, but mysteriously they said oh we leant it to your sister for a university project, there nose were longer than Pinocchio’s. Still angers me as I have memory for due to long Covid and trouble remembering and thinking.

And what was the outcome of your SARS ?
If they refuse them or claim to have lost your records - you have a legal right to them - complain to ICO - https://ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint/

I wouldn’t be surprised if they say that all records have been lost or destroyed.
