What was your favourite subject in school?
My son received his GCSE results this week and it got me thinking about when I was at high school. I used to hate PE as the teacher was awful, but I loved German as I love learning languages.

I loved English,and computer Technology as it was called then and hated Maths with a passion.My parents didn't take any interest in my education at all.How did your son do in his Gcses? Is he pleased?

Sorry to hear you got bullied @SheffieldMan1976. I definitely think a good teacher makes all the difference to how much you like a subject. I was a bit shy for drama but I remember my teacher was really nice.

Biology. It still makes my heart race. All branches of Biology. I really was rarely thrilled or even interested in anything else.

Subjects I enjoyed, Computers ( so long ago that was the class title, only 4 of us out of a whole year ), Maths ( several versions ), Technical Drawing and good old Physics. Had to do several other subjects too but did not enjoy them as much.

I hated computing, I was definitely playing second fiddle to the awesome power of the BBC Micro. ๐

Boarding School for kids with Learning Difficulties, Behaviour, Emotional etc
MK1 Fiesta, Nissan Silvia Turbo, Series Land Rover and Maestro Metro were what I drove in my time there.2 -

Motor vehicle studies sounds so interesting @Rag_793! They offer it in most schools now which I think is great for those who aren't as interested in formal subjects like maths and English.
I wish there was more choice when I was at school. I would have loved to learn about criminology or photography.
What subjects would everyone take if they had a choice?

What courses would I take now? Now there are a ton of things that interest me. My education was streamlined since age 15 into the sciences and I still love them. But more and more in the last 30 years I'm turning to the arts. But I'm done with school. No more courses for this gal. There are so many amazing ways now to learn without taking courses. I love mixing arts and science. That is especially interesting and exciting.
Like most people, when my mood is down and/or when I'm overwhelmed, interest in anything diminishes. Then I just don't have the bandwidth available for new information or play.

When I was younger science never interested me but now I find it fascinating. It's the same with history. It's great how we can easily learn things now thanks to the internet. YouTube is amazing for doing deep dives into topics.

You don't need to go to a college to take courses.

You are lucky, we started out with punch cards then moved on to punch paper tape which had to be posted to the Computer center. Basically a two week turn round, then the school got a modem, 300 Baud which was lightning fast then.
