I have two grandchildren (16 & 20) who are in my opinion unemployable. Both receive PIP for anxiety and depression. Both are not interested in starting the work cycle. One asked if working meant 8 hours a day - 5 days a week.

Both are quite happy to just enjoy their leisure time with their benefit income being topped up by their parents at the rate of an additional £1000 per month for each of them.

Has anybody any ideas on how they can be motivated.

    Sorry to hear that, and I sincerely hope PM Burnham has the stomach to do what needs doing. I have personally been laughed at for bring a mug, that is going to work each day when I was still able to do so.

    A swift dose of reality is what's needed, i'm afraid!

    In the current society, I doubt there's much to motivate anyone.

    It sounds like their parents giving them £1000 a month isn't helping though. What sort of leisure activities do they spend the money on? Maybe they'd be interested in a job that is already close to their interests?

    I don't think many people do 9 to 5 any more, those days are gone. Working times are much more flexible nowadays.
