Hi, my name is poprosalie! advice needed

hello :) I have joined scope in the hope of getting some advice. my nan sadly passed away last year, and I was her carer. she had a stroke over a decade ago, which left her paralysed down her left side. she also had the onset of vascular dementia, which continued to deteriorate over the years. she moved to a care home when her needs became too much for me, but I was never happy with this care home. in 2024, she suffered a broken arm, on the side of her body that was paralysed, meaning there was no way she could have done this to herself. as such, safeguarding and social services were contacted but their investigation deemed there was no way to know what happened, even though it is obvious to me that a member of staff must have done it, whether through deliberate intent or negligence and neglect. I complained to the CQC who also did nothing. it was then passed onto the police who are investigating but they have advised the home has closed ranks and there is not enough evidence for criminal investigations. I just cannot believe there is no justice for my nan. I have been looking if there are any other ways to try and get action at the home. I am wanting to post on community sites to see if anyone else has had a similar experience with the home, I am considering contacting journalists to look into this and looking at legal action. does anyone have any advice on where to go next? thank you so much in advance xx

    Hi @poprosalie, welcome to the community. I'm sorry for the loss of your nan and for what happened to her before she died. It sounds like you've fought really hard to get justice for her and I'm sure she would appreciate how hard you've been working on her behalf.

    I think your thoughts about legal advice are probably correct. As you've been through all the different channels to complain and investigate things, it's probably worth speaking with a local law firm to see if they could look at the case and support you to take it further.     hey @poprosalie I’m so sad to hear about your Nan, I’m sorry I have no advice for you but just wanted to say I was a foster carer for 22 years then changed to the ‘other side’ of things and worked in care homes and care in the community, I absolutely loved my job and the ‘high quality care’ that we gave our residents and customers was top class, I seriously used to go to bed at night thinking how lucky I WAS to work with such ANGELS, BUT some of the stories I heard we’re horrendous so I absolutely know there are ‘bad’ places out there, we’ve all seen it and heard about it over the years, I hope you get justice for your lovely nan xxxxx
