    Little lamps only please

No no no no no! I hate the big light. I like to be cosy and maybe a bit in the dark The big light is ok for landings, the kitchen and bathroom, but nowhere else.

I may have slightly strong opinions about this 😆

I prefer to sit in the dark

I only switch the light on if I actually need to see something. Bright light for reading, dim light for things like making the bed. If I'm on my phone or listening to an audiobook, I don't need the lights. My place is tidy so I won't trip over things in the dark and I live in an urban area so it's never pitch dark here anyway.

    Yes to the Big Light

They couldn't have kept it all together without 'mother's little helper', despite what the television and glossy mags claimed.

    That was me 😉

@Anhedonia2 what is your 'something else' when it comes to lighting, lights and lamps?

I don’t have any lamps in the lounge so it has to be the big light! I like it bright so I can read, crochet, puzzle etc. I really struggle in low light with my eyesight and just get frustrated as I can’t see

See that's very sensible @Hopeless. Even when I'm doing my colouring and I can't quite tell the shade of what pen I'm using, I still refuse to put the big light on!

What kind of things do you crochet? I used to do it but haven't for a long time. We'd love to see some pictures of your creations if you're happy to share? KaleidoScope: Our own gallery for members' art work, crafts and photographs.

Have you seen our Book Club too? It's banned books this month!

I actually don't have the choice of a 'big light', as our house doesn't have any ceiling lights. The previous owners of our house were both about 7 foot tall, so had removed all the ceiling lights as they kept hitting their heads on them! We thought it would be a problem at first, but never got around to putting in new ceiling lights and got used to floor and table lamps etc. I much prefer it like this now.

A bigger problem was that the kitchen wall cupboards were so high up as to be unusable for me, so we changed those pretty quickly!

I'd never thought of that as a problem for tall people before @Scooby222, but that makes sense! I know what you mean about the kitchen cupboards. I used to live in a houseshare where the tallest person had put up all the shelves and the mirror in the bathroom. Made the rest of us feel like Hobbits even though we were all average heights 😄

    Something else

That I don't really have a preference or notice what the lighting is doing! I love snuggling up with a book and will sometimes opt for my little lamp because of the cosiness, but the lights are usually just left as I find them or until my daughter comes in and moans it's too bright or dark 😅
