Hi,

My daughter is 2 1/2 years old and has a mild form of CP affecting her left side. Our physio has asked us to consider buying her a trike to help her with her balance and co-ordination, the only problem is i can't seem to find any with a supportive seat that don't cost too much, have a strap to keep her secure, have a parent handle and that will be big enough for her.

So if anyone has bought one or has any ideas please please pass them along :)

    Hi,
we recently got a specialised trike for our daughter. The physio arranged for a rep to come so that she could try it out. The rep also brought a list of charities who help fund trikes for children with CP. We successfully applied to Cerebra, and they helped fund 3/4 of the cost and we paid the balance, although they do offer full funding if you need it. It was really worthwhile, Alice loves her trike, and it is so good to get her out of the wheelchair.

Theraplay and quest 88 do bikes. Your physiotherapist should be the one to organise an assessment for trikes, even if you or a charity pays for it. You should ask her/him.

Mission cycles in Kent have special needs tricycles with special pedals to keep the feet in and back and side supports with detachable push handle. http://www.missioncycles.co.uk/
