Assistive technology wishes

I've been thinking about this for a while... wouldn't it be great in our world of smartphones and nanotechnology if we could have some technology to help people live more independently.

I know there are many tasks that have been adapted but wouldn't it be great if there was a device that could wash/bathe and shower people without the need for carers (I'd buy one) or a device to help people use the bathroom with fewer transfers.

My question is, while I have a captive audience, what sort of tasks would you have automated?

Hi @Geo08 - we actually just shared a question very similar to this on our Facebook page. BBC2 are creating a new TV show, they're looking for people whose lives could potentially be changed forever with a tailor-made invention.

I'm sure they'd love to hear from you!

Actually my husband is convinced we will be buying an automated cyborg to hoist and transfer our daughter in future! I would like one to do ironing!

It seems increasingly likely as budgets become tighter and tighter that more care will be passed to machines. I think as long as the individual stays in control this isn't a problem and promotes more freedom, independence and choice.
