Hi, I gave up a nursing career 3yrs ago to adopt a little boy with parkinsonism dystonia and global function delay who is now 4yrs old. I also care for my 52yrs old brother with Downs syndrome. Because I adopted outside my own area it has been difficult to get my local authorities to accept him as a local residents due to the nature of the adoption (Special Guardianship) and often have to rely on organisations for information.

Hi Maureenp, thanks for posting! I'm wondering if you've checked out the sections for parents and carers? There may be some more relevant and helpful information over on those parts of the community. Many thanks for sharing your story and I hope you find this community a great support!
Best,
Heather
