Does anyone know when DWP get the assessors report do they read through the report and make a decision themselves? or do they just take the assessors decision as gospel?

it can vary - but most follow the assessor's report quite slavishly though there are exceptions.0

Hi Mol, Mine was practically word for word the same. You can ask for a copy of the assessor's report to be sent to you by ringing the DWP PIP number. If you're happy with your assessment and have seen your report and you agree it's fair and reflects what took place than no problem. If not which is happening to a lot of people you can ask for a Mandatory Reconsideration which will be explained on your decision letter. Hope you get on OK...1

@Briony01 I don't know exactly but I think it's sent very quickly within a day or two as soon as the assessor has filled it in. You can ring the DWP and ask this question and ask for a copy of the report to be sent to you as soon as they receive it. Let us know what happens as other people would be interested in knowing how long it takes..1

They usually go by what the assessor has said - even if the assessor has contradicted themselves completely.0
