edited January 2018 in Universal Credit (UC)
My friend was awarded enhanced pip rate in November 2017 and then had an ESA assessment 4 weeks later which has resulted in him failing the assessment, will put in for mandatory rec and appeal . We are in a universal credit area so will he have to claim this and will he lose his pop by claiming unversal credit. Will his carer be affected by the loss of ESA . Any help or information would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @Andrew1972, and welcome! I'd advise that you or your friend had a look at our ESA discussions, or our Universal Credit group, where you can find more support and information. Hope this helps!

    Hi Andrew and welcome

PIP remains outside of universal credit so won't be affected by loss of ESA.
As long as your friend has a PIP  DL component his carer will still be able to claim as long as they meet the criteria

Will failure of ESA assessment lead to an earlier  PIP assessment which was only taken on 17/11/2017 .

The PIP decision letter will give the probable review date.
The failure of an ESA assessment should have no effect on PIP re-assessment.
The DWP can review any claim at any time
