Home assessment client decline?

What are the "rules" pertaining to home visits for assessments for PIP? Having had a home visit by a retired doctor in the past which resulted in the need for an appeal, due to his factually incorrect report amongst other things - too many to go into detail: I am not wanting another home visit.
IF I am "offered" one after I have submitted my PIP claim (transfer from DLA), can I decline this and ask for it to be held in the offices/assessment centre which are in my home town?
