morning family how is everyone on this lovely ? ? sunny morning, well I’ve just got back from my hospital appointment at the knutsford community hospital and after sticking to my guns and getting the backing of the nurses I’ve finally got (hopefully) the treatment in place that will make my life a hell of a lot better. My consultants weren’t very happy with my decision but at the end of the day it’s my body and I’ve got to do what’s best for me and not what’s convenient for them, the only drawback is I’ve got to be transferred to Salford royal, it’s a hospital I’ve never been too and this will make the 8 hospital in 3 years, i don’t know anything about this one but if anyone on this forum has been could you let me know if it’s good or bad. There is another major  drawback which I’ve taken is that it will probably shorten my life span, i could have had a terrible long health problem or a very good short life span, so as I’ve said a good one for me. Salford royal good or bad? Please let me know. X NC

They are very tough decisions but unfortunately I’ve only got myself to listen to, i have no friends or family it’s just me and the cat ? and he doesn’t say that much. I just hope I’m doing the right thing, only time will tell.

Thank you it’s nice to be wanted, I’ll keep chatting and let you know how things are progressing, I’m still not out of the dumps about ending it all but we’ll see how that goes as well.

Good for you in taking control.

I have not been to the Salford Royal, but friends and family have. They rate it as excellent in every aspect. It's a new hospital just on the border of the Trafford Park development and easy to get to.

My experiences of hospitals in the North West are five star when compared to the ones down here in the South East. In fact I have done the rounds of the Kent ones, then Kings & St Thomas' in London and now thankfully I am under a consultant that knows his job and has a world wide reputation at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital. They are one of three hospitals in the UK that specialise in Pancreatic Cancer and associated conditions. One in the North East and the other in the South West.
It is a 600 mile round trip every 6 weeks but who's counting when my life hangs in the balance.
My wife also ended up after a disastrous time in hospitals in Kent & London at the Aintree Royal just outside Liverpool where she was treated and stayed a week.

If our experiences have anything to go by you are going to the right place.

    Good luck
