Boy with CP denied free bus travel to school

Josh Higginbottom aged 10, lives with quadriplegic Cerebral Palsy and is a full-time powerchair user. However, Josh and his mother have been told by Derbyshire County Council that "the distance from your home to the new school measures less than the statutory walking distance, there is no entitlement to assistance with transport."

This story is absolutely horrific and shows a total lack of common-sense and compassion which is unfortunately all too common when dealing with local authorities. Derbyshire County Council should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves and their decision should be reversed without even needing to go to the appeal stage.
