    A: No - inflexibility of hips and shoulders have never allowed me to do more than a 'doggy paddle'. ?

    Q: Anyone using a mobility scooter/wheelchair (I don't) - have you ever run out of charge and how did you cope?

    I have, and gladly just the once. Fortunately, the battery went completely flat when I was about 50 yards from my home. I couldn't do anything else but wait until some passers-by 'pushed' me home!  I then purchased a brand new scooter to be on the safe side. It can do 35 miles on a full charge which is more than adequate, and I charge the battery after EVERY journey no matter how small it is.
