in PIP, DLA, and AA
Hello everyone, just wanted to hear people’s success stories of applying for PIP for autism we all hear the bad stories but not the good.

It’d make me feel better to know what people got awarded and how long for.  Currently going through the process as you all know; but regards to mobility part I only got 4 points when I’m definatly entitled to 20 after my specialist worked it out

    As you know PIP is not about your illnesses, diagnosis or disability. PIP is a benefit to help you with your daily living activities and is awarded accordingly to how you relate to the PIP descriptiors for most of the time, everyone is different.

    Hi,

    Lots of people successfully claim PIP because of the way Autism affects them, my daughter included. You can't compare 2 people when it comes to PIP because we are all affected differently by those conditions.

    For the mobility part those with Autism won't score points in the "moving around" part of mobility. The activity is for those with physical conditions and are unable to walk certain distances. If you don't have a physical condition then i'm not sure how your specialist came to 20 points for mobility.  It's only possible for them to score points in the following and planning a journey part. Whether they do will depend how their conditions affect them.

    My daughter has an award of Enhanced for both parts and she's been claiming this for 2 years, her next review is August 2020 and her award ends in February 2021.
    I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying.

    I do have physical problems with walking he says I should of got 8 points for walking and 12 points for planning a journey as he knows for a fact I never leave the home without someone with me

    My son has enhanced mobility. He scored highly for the mobility activities because he needs a wheelchair and uses braces. What are your disabilities?

    Doesn't your son claim DLA and not PIP? DLA and PIP are different benefits.

    Yes he does. Sorry I keep mixing them up.
