Probation extended.
Hi, looking for some advice please. Started my job at the local authority back in June and in December they advised me they would be extending my probation because of my sickness absence level; sickness absence caused by my disability and pain levels. I have been informed that my employer can’t use my disability on my sickness record but they state they can? On top of this the general treatment I am getting from management and HR is disgusting and I really feel discriminated against by their treatment and their actions. I am in communication with my union and am going to try and get in touch with ACAS, but wanted to see if anyone had any other suggestions please. Really appreciate it!

Sorry to hear you haven't had the right support @JoleneD! I would see what your union can do, I really hope they can resolve it. Do you have any reasonable adjustments? Here is some information that you might find useful:
Please do let us know how you get on.0 -
@Chloe_Scope They’re starting to make some adjustments now but it’s their lack of understanding that they believe a hot water bottle will help with my pain flare ups!
Its their lack of understanding and the way they’ve been dealing with it that is making me feel embarrassed and losing all my dignity with some of the things they’ve put in place.0 -
I'm sorry to hear this @JoleneD, you certainly deserve better!
