If you do a search for trust pilot and green power you will see the reviews.

@Duddsy23 I would not advise that, I can give you step-by-step instructions to achieve what you want to do with photos as well, also others will learn how to do it by reading it here if they want to, I'm off out atm I will message you here later

The battery layout is totally different to mine. Are these lead acid.

My Battery layout has 5 Yuasa 22AH Batteries and is a 60 Volt system

yes they are lead acid i believe. not a lot of info on them as to size/voltage etc.

@Duddsy23 Yes yours is the older model, it seems you do not have the switch but from what I can see it is that connector with blue@blue /white strip wires, you will need to bridge the wires with some insulated wire, i would advise you do not cut them just bridge the block

I do not advise this but this is what and how I am using mine,

Personally, I have a full Clean Car Driving licence (held for 37 yrs), my scooter is registered/Taxed with DVLA with number plates and insured and I use mine as an electric vehicle, 4mph on the pavement and 8-15mph on the road only, no different to an electric bike, I have had no issues with the law, I do use it responsibly, "Legs before Wheels" is my moto

I also have a 200 ltr trailer I tow with it when shopping

What I intend to do,

convert my scooter to lifepo4 batteries

currently has:

Lead Acid 5x12v 20Ah can be upgraded to 22Ah, Each Battery = Length = 181mm, Width = 76mm, Height = 167mm

(heavy and die after 1-3 years of use and need to be replaced)

will have:

(electric car teq)

LifePo4 5x 12v 30Ah Each Battery = Length = 180mm, Width = 75mm, Height = 170mm

(much lighter at 6,28 lbs and are guaranteed for 10 years of use or 3000 cycles) will also need a 60v charger for lithium batteries, no BMS as it has them already built-in to each power pack

Higher amps so will give a better range

£450 for Green powers equivalent 60v 5x12v lithium removable power pack

or have:

I am also looking at 20x3.2v 50Ah lifepo4 batteries to see if they will fit, will need a BMS and 60v charger for this setup and may need to modify the battery tray

There will be no change in its speed, as this is intended to extend its range not its speed of 4-8-15mph

I am a retired (hobbyist only now) mechanic/ engineer and all-metals welder fabricator

Have built custom motorbikes and trikes from the ground up, modified motorbikes/trikes ect for disabled persons, totally rebuilt cars after accidents and had them pass an MOT and any test and regulations set by DVLA and the law

This project should be a doddle

I would like to add, that if you have a class 3 mobility scooter it is a good idea to have it registered with DVLA, V5C (you will receive its registration number (and you can have a number plate made with what DVLA send you) then tax it ( does not cost money), always remember LBW, 4mph pavement, 8mph roads, 15mph be good

Someone one day will anger you whilst you are riding your scooter down the road responsibly, please resist @^%$*$% snapping their &&, I assure you it will happen one day, make that vehicle you are driving/riding your own, be proud of what you have achieved and keep it.

Thank you Razr for your help and advice. iv tested it once at extra speed (on private land ) and have no intention of wasting my speed just because i can now however its just nice to know that should the need arise were i may need to get out of trouble i can now. its 8mph is plenty for me as normal 😃.Again Thank you.

Seems to be a lot of confusion regarding legal speeds. Latest guidelines from WWW.Gov.UK/mobility-scooters-and-powered-wheelchairs-rules/driving-on-the-road are below

Note the maximum speed is AT LEAST 8mph - upper max is 15mph - in other words the same as an electric bike or scooter. Over 15 mph is legal BUT a driving licence is required

below is a copy and paste from gov.uk.

To drive on the road, your vehicle must be a powered wheelchair or mobility scooter in ‘class 3’ or not in a class. 

It must have:

• a maximum speed of at least 8mph
• an efficient braking system
• a clear view of the road and traffic ahead
• front and rear lights and reflectors
• direction indicators that can be used as a hazard warning signal
• a rear view mirror
• an audible horn
• If your mobility scooter or powered wheelchair’s maximum speed is over 15mph
• Your mobility scooter or powered wheelchair must have:
• two dipped beam headlamps - if its maximum speed is more than 15mph
• a speedometer - if its maximum speed is more than 25mph

jae377, there are many different rules depending what class your mobility scooter falls into

for instance, class 3 and no class must be registered with DVLA and taxed

Class 3 and no class can drive on a dual carriageway with a speed limit of no more than 50mph and you must have a flashing beacon along with the other rules of the road

Mobility scooters are not allowed to drive in cycle lanes and bus lanes

I suggest people read all of the rules for themselves

So from what I can gather my JH500 is all classes, with the 4mph restrictor switch active it's a class 2 and when the 8mph restriction is active it is a class 3 and when I flick the switch so it can go 15mph it falls into no class

even after reading the whole of the rules, TBH I am still a little baffled

Actually it's only ilegal if not registered with the dvla.
