‘Many disabled people cannot go out without being able to park’: Access concerns as blue badge parking bays shut to allow queues – I news

Gem Hubbard, 35, from Brighton, who has an incomplete spinal cord injury and uses a wheelchair, has spoken of her frustration and exhaustion at the numerous accessibility issues caused by lockdown. 

Ms Hubbard shared her experience as charity Scope warned that disabled people are at risk of being “pushed out” of post-lockdown Britain when shielding pauses this weekend.

    Hi, my neighbour is housebound, she is very unwell at moment, we do help as much as we can, her relative takes her to supermarket and doc/hospital appointments etc, when her dla stopped last year, she was very down and upset and wouldn't due to variety of illnesses, apply for PIP, she spoke to her doctor and local council and paid a small fee and has got her blue badge, shes very grateful. Her relative said he has struggled lately with the supermarket cordoning off disabled bays due to covid, due to people having to leave enough space between each other when queing up
