Wheelchair user needing a bungalow as a first time buyer

Hi all, does anyone have any tips on how to afford a bungalow as a first time buyer or know of a register for accessible houses? Ideally my partner and I would love a bungalow with a garden. We both work full time and are trying to save a deposit but bungalows are very expensive so it's a daunting prospect. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Hello @susannah09 and welcome to Scope's online community.  It's nice to meet you.  Our members have lots of knowledge so am sure they will pop along to give you advice on the financial side of your question soon.

I have found a website that lists all accessible properties for sale here https://www.accessible-property.org.uk/
This might help you find one within your price range but I appreciate they are very expensive. Good luck with finding your future new home.

Hi and welcome @susannah09 Glad you have joined us and I hope the link provided will help you, you could also register with a website like on the market or zoopla and they will send you alerts when a property meeting your requirements goes on the market

    Good luck with your search

    Hi @susannah09
Thanks for posting and it's great to speak to you. Bungalows are expensive in the U.K. The link that @Cher_Scope has shared is a good place to start. You can also take a look at Habintag. There is a Government-run affordable homeownership scheme that can help towards your deposit and such. However, you must meet certain eligibility criteria.
Are you and your partner currently renting?

Thanks for the helpful comments all! Yes Richard, we are currently renting. It's frustrating bungalows are so expensive!
