Now the dark nights are here, some thoughts to keep us occupied. It was suggested (by @janer1967 & @66Mustang ) that this might be of interest to others. So as well as reading, listening to music, watching dvds/documentaries, depending on your
interests, e.g. nature, gardening, history, etc., & watching a film, there are also audiobooks, crossword puzzles, word searches, & sudoku.
I enjoy doing jigsaw puzzles online, which come in all different sizes & topics. See: https://www.jigidi.com/
it's free to join, & if you sign in with a user name, you can see if you're in the top 10 fastest to complete a puzzle (& if you stay there!), & also bookmark puzzles to come back to later. It's the best site I've found so far, & I've been using it for 4+ years.
Free online games, e.g. https://zone.msn.com/en-us/home I particularly like Mahjong & Solitaire
Free online crossword puzzles, 'code crackers,' sudoku & word searches, e.g. https://www.mindfood.com/thinkandwin/puzzles/crossword/
This
last site has many different categories you can choose from, & for
every answer that you get correct the equivalent of 5 grains of rice
goes to help the World Food Programme. Please see: https://freerice.com/ &
https://freerice.com/about
So not just good to do, but good to help others. I've generated 11,000
grains of rice so far, the equivalent of 110 bowls of rice. I
particularly enjoy the English one on the meaning of words (which gets harder & harder as you get correct answers!), but there's
everything from Maths, languages & literature, to Geography. Simply add a user name, & see how many grains of rice you can help donate.

I love puzzles @chiarieds- thank you for sharing! The free rice site looks great. I'm sure it'll now consume all of my free time
Another good website to get the old brain going is Sporcle, which hosts thousands of quizzes on absolutely loads of different topics. It's fun to play on your own, or with friends and family.0 -
Hi @gamechanger11 - & welcome to the community. Hope you enjoy some of the ideas above, & having a look around our virtual 'Coffee lounge.' Do join in with the word games here too.0

Hi @chiarieds
Thanks for the links, think I'll do jigsaws on my tablet. I didn't know you could do them on line and free too. Well done.
