Now the dark nights are here, some thoughts to keep us occupied. It was suggested (by @janer1967 & @66Mustang ) that this might be of interest to others. So as well as reading, listening to music, watching dvds/documentaries, depending on your interests, e.g. nature, gardening, history, etc., & watching a film, there are also audiobooks, crossword puzzles, word searches, & sudoku.
I enjoy doing jigsaw puzzles online, which come in all different sizes & topics. See: it's free to join, & if you sign in with a user name, you can see if you're in the top 10 fastest to complete a puzzle (& if you stay there!), & also bookmark puzzles to come back to later. It's the best site I've found so far, & I've been using it for 4+ years.
Free online games, e.g.  I particularly like Mahjong & Solitaire
Free online crossword puzzles, 'code crackers,' sudoku & word searches, e.g.
This last site has many different categories you can choose from, & for every answer that you get correct the equivalent of 5 grains of rice goes to help the World Food Programme. Please see:    &     So not just good to do, but good to help others. I've generated 11,000 grains of rice so far, the equivalent of 110 bowls of rice. I particularly enjoy the English one on the meaning of words (which gets harder & harder as you get correct answers!), but there's everything from Maths, languages & literature, to Geography. Simply add a user name, & see how many grains of rice you can help donate. :)
