As our Christmas countdown draws to a close, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on the year that was and the community's highlights of 2020. 

And what better way to do this than to step back in time and revisit the top 8 most commented on threads of the year! 

For the remainder of today I’ll be doing my finest Top of the Pops presenter impression by counting us down from 8 to number one.  Can you guess what will be in the top spot?  

I’ll give you a clue it’s not <drum roll>:

‘This or that’ which was our 8th most popular thread with a total of 375 replies!   

In this thread our members made some very serious decisions about what they would prefer out of the two options given by a previous member - coffee or tea?  Ant or Dec?  You decided.

@janer1967 Aww I like that one too!  Finding out those little snippets about people's personalities is fab.

In at number 7 is one of my faves, the wonderous 'Name a song starting with the last letter of the song above' thread with 485 replies.  This pretty much does what it says on the tin, with some eclectic music choices thrown in there, from Elvis to Metallica

What's at number 6 I hear you all cry!

Well, it seems our community loves a game because in at 6 with a whopping 503 views is our 'Name an animal using the last letter of the previous post' thread.  Baa.

The 5th most commented on thread of the year is no surprise! 

It's the infamous 'The person below me' thread that asks us all to answer the previous question and put forward a new one!  With 569 replies it's clear our members are a curious bunch

Not that I was hoping my thread would come higher up or anything... but...

I've just noticed you seem to have miscounted some of the threads. For example the animal thread is listed as having 485 replies but actually has over 600 posts and the TPBM thread has 1.1k.

Unless there's a glitch my side?

Or are you excluding posts from the Scope team members or something like that?

@66Mustang   I've used my technical know-how to find the number of replies made this year, so the stats are from 1 Jan 2020 to yesterday when I did my trickery, if that makes sense?

Zooming out of nowhere into the 4th spot with a humongous 639 replies is.... The Famous Name game! 

Join in as we take it in turns to think of a famous name starting with the first letter of the previous surname.

At number three is the thread all you wordsmiths love to associate with (oh dear), yes it's an almost but not quite for the Word Association game with 691 replies! 

This threads a bit like Mallets Mallet for all those old enough to remember, just think of a word that links to the previous one, no matter how tenuous it may be

Number two in 2020 goes to the epic that was Count to 10 before a Scope team member posts with 724 replies.  This thread saw our members try to outdo the community team by posting one number at a time with the aim of getting to 10 before we could interrupt and send them back to zero.

Alas, the community proved too great a force and, in what can only be described as a demolition, got to 207 in their best attempt

Any ideas for what's in the sacred top spot?

Oh I was so hoping it would be 'Count to 10 before a Scope team member posts' thread at number 1. We stayed up late, & all sorts....but 2nd place isn't at all bad, & thanks to @66Mustang for thinking it up....what will you devise for next year?
