Behavioural vomiting

Hi. My 10 year old son with Down Syndrome is burping lots and being sick after food/drink several times daily pretty much every time he eats or drinks. He has been doing this for months but it has got very bad lately. It's thought to be behavioural as reflux medications have not helped. He is to have some bloods done and a barium swallow. He's non verbal so can't tell me why he is doing it. He is very sensory also. Just wondered if you have ever come across behavioural vomiting and if you have any advice? Thanks

Hi sorry about your son it must be worrying for youn
I don’t have any experience of this can you find anything on downs website or speak to his specialist
Hope his tests go ok and you find out the issue0 -
Hello @silvers and welcome to our community. I'm sorry to hear your son is going through this.
The barium meal is a really good investigative tool so if anything medical is going on in the gut, it will shine a light on it (literally!) and help you get the right treatment.
Also, is your son under the care of a local Children and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS)? They could perhaps help if it turned out to be behavioural.
I'm sorry I can't help further but I've marked this post as 'unanswered' and will do some more research to see what I can find
Please let us know how you get on. Take care.0 -
