I have more workmen coming (again) at 10 to clean out the loft and put new insulation down.❤️1 -
Morning all! I hope you're doing well. I had a very lazy day yesterday on my day off. I did nothing productive at all. Feel kind of bad about it now cause I've left work for future me2

Hi @Amberpearl, I know it's a struggle with how cold it is and the bills right now.Have you tried reaching out to our Energy Support team to see what they can do?Amberpearl said:Good morning all

Hi @Jimm_Scope I like your new avatar, I love anime looking characters I think they are cool.3

Speaking of Japanese things I just found a UK based website that sells all sorts of Japanese food and drink and other stuff as well.
I think I'm going to order a few Japanese beers that I haven't tried and maybe some healthy snacks.1 -
Thank you @66Mustang! It's not from any particular anime, I just had it generated. I'd personally rather pay someone for some artwork if I had the spare cash, maybe next month I'll pay an artist to draw me something I can use.
I know of 2 sites that sell Japanese products, Japan Centre and Sous Chef. Japan Centre is, as the name suggests, entirely Japanese based. It's got a store just off Leicester Square that I usually go to when I visit London.
Sous Chef does products from all around the world, a little pricey as they stock things you don't find in regular supermarkets but me and my partner get a lot out of cooking and food so we sometimes get things from it. Not often though, again the price.
@Ada Do you have any other way to heat up your home? An old fireplace perhaps? Have you also tried reaching out to our Energy Support?1 -
@Jimm_Scope Japan Store is exactly the one I found!
I am a bit of a Japan-o-phile, if that's a word? (I know there are people in the US who love the UK and they call them Anglophiles).

I tried to find an Anime Mustang to use for my picture but most I can find are either real Mustangs with anime artwork on them, or anime characters wearing scarce clothes posing next to a Mustang, which is not really my thing.

On the internet the nickname tends to be 'weebs' or 'weeaboo'. The term is usually used in an unflattering manner but a lot of people also self-describe as it in a tongue-in-cheek manner. Japanophile I guess is a nicer term.
And yes, given some of it's history and connections there are still a lot of not-very-nice tropes around anime, such as a preponderance of sexualisation sometimes. Something that is being fixed over time though!
Studio Ghibli has always been a favourite of mine, both kids and adults can get something from their stories. They've often so beautiful but with such deep stories and tones.1 -
            @Ada
Good morning sorry I didn’t mention you separately I was getting sorted for the workmen arriving. I’m currently closed in my living room as they have taped up all the doors. Hope I don’t need the loo anytime soon 🤭
Sorry to read you had a worse night than normal I’m shocked they can’t find you decent painkillers and sleeping tablets to help ease your pain. ❤️1 -
Ahh I didn't know it had a name @Jimm_Scope, thanks!
I looked those words up and don't think I am that extreme. I realise Japan isn't perfect, it has a dark history, as do most if not all countries. I just like experiencing different culture and like to try to see the good in any country/culture and appreciate those things as much as possible.
Do you happen to know if there is a name for people obsessed with the USA? I often find that in the muscle car scene you get a lot of Brits who seem to almost think (wish?) they were American.
I am going to look up that anime that you suggest.
