Disability fiction! I'm looking specifically at the concept of 'cure' and how we are represented in the media, the tropes that go along with it (better dead than disabled, disabled villains, horror fiction monsters etc.) I'm hoping that it'll lead to some kind of activism, I feel like we are often forgotten

I am currently playing through a new game that was released this week - called World of Warcraft - and have run into a couple of disabled "goodies" so far. It was quite refreshing to see disabled people portrayed as good characters.
That said WoW is more progressive than a lot of games - for example they removed the references to "male" and "female" when choosing your character, they just call them "body shape 1" and "body shape 2".

I'm a gamer myself, currently on a second playthrough of The Witcher 3... Geralt's not disabled in-game, but he is in the book series. Probably one of my favourite examples of representation. Another of my absolute favourites is Kaz Brekker from Leigh Bardugo's Six of Crows. Leigh is disabled herself so Kaz is a bit of wish fulfilment in a way. Does anyone else have favourites like that? It'd be cool to hear thoughts! (Though maybe in a different thread? Hmm.)I hope to stick around as well, I go back to uni in January after a year off so it's going to be busy and daunting, but this community is super nice and welcoming so far. I'm trying to get back some sort of semblance of a social life lol.Does anyone have nice weekend plans? (Resting counts!)2 -
Hahaha @SueHeath that made me laugh out loud. Here's a photo, I really like it. I'm super into my fun colours! I am sure I will spend too much money on accessories for it lol. There are so many nice things out there and I am a sucker for things that look nice.

I'm so sorry to hear your sad news @Amberpearl, we're here if you want to talk about it, or to share any memories whenever you're ready. Please reach out if you need anything, big or small.
As Sue says, try and eat a little something today and look after yourself, it's horrible what's happened, but we can help support you.1 -
He was my baby. I bred him myself. I delivered him and hand reared him too as mum abandoned thrn and got mastitis. She later died of cancer aged 5
They were 5 kittens born on 9th Feb 2010 on my bed
Only 3 lived
Ruby who died last year of a virus Oscar who had cancer and Toby who is going strong atm
I don't handle loss very well I'm. Afraid
I've lost 6 cats in 3 years
14 in 14 years
There all I. Have
My babies
I've gone hungry so I can buy cat food
The Crematorium says it's £353 to get him back
That's most of my money I. Only got it today0 -

Ooh fancy. I'm not a drinker, so I've just got tea, ovaltine, hot chocolate so far. I'm always drinking hot drinks this time of year, as soon as I've finished one the kettle's on again!
