Aww thanks the vet sd I can tell he’s been loved and looked after. He got to a great age for a King Charles so we were lucky to have him so long.

I'm sorry to hear that @Lou67,it's three years since we lost our old dog and I still get upset when I think about the day she was put to sleep.

Hi Teigr thanks I can understand why you still get upset thinking about it.
I have dealt with a lot of things in my life and that was one of the hardest things I’ve done. 

But I keep telling myself it was for the best and he’s no longer in pain.

I am dreading the day our dog goes to sleep for the final time

I am not overly a dog person but I am a little bit fond of him, and it would make me very sad, I can't imagine how badly it will affect the family members who absolutely adore him

It's our first pet (aside from goldfish etc.) so we haven't experienced the loss of a pet before
