@Ibelive2020 posted a quote a while back and it's stuck with me ever since,
"Don't swim an ocean for someone who won't even jump through a puddle for you" (It was something along them lines, I apologise if I have worded it wrong)3 -
Mine are all classics from my childhood

@janer1967 That takes me back to where I used to live, my Mum always said about the neighbours - Shut the door, were you born in a barn? To be fair though, they did always leave the entrance door open which was annoying.4

I like many quotes by Bob Hope, like this one.
”A bank is a place that will lend you money if you can prove that you don't need it.”
(a variation on this theme is, a bank will lend you an umbrella but if it starts raining they Want it back.)3 -

Another quote I like is; ‘It is better to remain silent at the risk of being thought a fool, than to talk and remove all doubt of it.’
The quote is often attributed to Mark Twain or Abraham Lincoln, but may be neither.3 -
Heard a quote on a film which helped me recently. (Shopkeeper part of his family were on life-support, with no hope)
“Bravest thing is letting someone go to a better place”
(Slight context with death of ill pet, made slightly braver though still raw after PTS)1 -
@fluffycat That's lovely. You're right. It's particularly moving when a quote just hits home on a personal level as well At the right time and in the right context, as you say.
Lots of really good suggestions. I have a few in mind But I'm still trying to settle on my one preferred maxim. Hmmm?
