@janer1967 That takes me back to where I used to live, my Mum always said about the neighbours - Shut the door, were you born in a barn? To be fair though, they did always leave the entrance door open which was annoying.Disability Gamechanger - 2019

I like many quotes by Bob Hope, like this one.
”A bank is a place that will lend you money if you can prove that you don't need it.”
(a variation on this theme is, a bank will lend you an umbrella but if it starts raining they Want it back.)“This is my simple religion. No need for temples. No need for complicated philosophy. Your own mind, your own heart is the temple. Your philosophy is simple kindness.”
― Dalai Lama XIV -

Another quote I like is; ‘It is better to remain silent at the risk of being thought a fool, than to talk and remove all doubt of it.’
The quote is often attributed to Mark Twain or Abraham Lincoln, but may be neither.“This is my simple religion. No need for temples. No need for complicated philosophy. Your own mind, your own heart is the temple. Your philosophy is simple kindness.”

Heard a quote on a film which helped me recently. (Shopkeeper part of his family were on life-support, with no hope)
“Bravest thing is letting someone go to a better place”
(Slight context with death of ill pet, made slightly braver though still raw after PTS) -
@fluffycat That's lovely. You're right. It's particularly moving when a quote just hits home on a personal level as well At the right time and in the right context, as you say.
Lots of really good suggestions. I have a few in mind But I'm still trying to settle on my one preferred maxim. Hmmm?
