Phone call asking me some questions following a mandatory reconsideration. What does it mean?

Hi,

So I applied for PIP for the 5th time in October as I am no longer working due to my back and my mental health. They said they couldn't award it so I have sent a mandatory reconsideration last month. I got a phone call this morning from PIP asking if my bank details are the same as when I applied in October and just asking if I have been in prison, lived in a care home or had an overnight stay in hospital since I applied.
I don't want to get my hopes up but I'm not sure what the phone call means if anyone could help?

Thank you in advance
Karen

    Hi there

It sounds like good news they normally do this before making a back payment
Keep a check on your bank as you will probably get the money before the letter

Let yd know how you get on

    Hello,

I did think it was good news but I don't like to get my hopes up and I've been refused a lot of times. In my application this time I got 7 points so I done a mandatory reconsideration needing only 1 point.

    Thank you for replying

    Hi,

They received my mandatory reconsideration on the 15th March and I received my payment on the 30th April. I received my payment before i got my letter from DWP. I know someone who has just waited 2 months for their results of their MR. ?

    Hi,

It took 7 weeks from the date they told me they received my Mandatory Reconsideration. I received the payment on on the Friday and for the letter the following Tuesday.

To be honest, I've only ever known them to ring to ask if you they have give you so I think it positive. But when they rang me, I didn't get my hopes up but it does sound positive

    Hi,

It does sound positive. I think they have to ring and ask incase you have been in prison/care home etc since they received your mandatory reconsideration as I think that can affect your application.

It might be longer than 7/8 weeks because of the time of year. I got mine in April. Good luck!

@Cardiff2020 did you hear anything after this post? As the same thing has happened to me and asked the same questions but don’t want to get my hopes up as I had 0 points on original assessment

@emzy18 it was for me, I had a backdated payment a week later and they had awarded it me after the phone call. Hope it’s the same for you
