im trying to get a blue badge for my wife
I’m her appointed Person because she can not do it herself.
We live in South Wales and I have sent the forms online to the country borough council.
I’ve got a letter yesterday asking to fill out a able 2 questionnaire.
I’m confused because has full mobility enhanced.
Descriptor e planning a journey 10 points
looking online for her that’s enough?.
and 4 points for moving around.

and 4 points for moving around.
I’m not the best at all this and trying by best for her and I was hoping for some help to let me know what is what please.
I’ve managed to get her the disabled bus card
and the same man at the council looks at the Blue badge Applications.

I had to send consultant letters in for that
but is say in the letter about this able 2
looks difficult to do. Plus I have got reading difficulties but try my best.

On this Welsh government it seem to have different criteria which doesn't include 10 points for descriptor e
https://gov.wales/blue-badges-eligibility-html#section-54889
However this UK page
https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/blue-badge-can-i-get-one/can-i-get-a-blue-badge
implies that the Wales criteria are in addition to the criteria that apply in England
There is an inconsistency. Possibly worth ringing the council and referring them to the criteria on the UK page.
I assume you sent a copy of the PIP award in.
I've sent a feedback message for the Welsh page saying i believe it is incomplete. I'll let you know if I ever hear back.0 -
Thank you very much I will have to call them about this on Monday morning.I’ve seen about the 10 points in a few different places.Only the the front of the pip
letter I emailed to them. But I’m sure I mention this
when trying for her bus card
i had a similar problem
but he passed it on doctors letters do not make senseI got the reply back from them late yesterday afternoon. So I like to check now before I call them on Monday what are the rules has its confusing.Thank you0 -
If it wasn't included you need to let them see the part of the PIP award that shows what descriptors the points were scored for. If they don't know 10 points were awarded for descriptor 10e then they clearly aren't going to make a decision on that basis.0

Yes I will make sure about this Monday. But I’m sure I did tell them about this
thank you0 -
Hi @fire1342 Have you been able to give them a call?0

Classification: NOT PROTECTIVELY MARKED
Good morning
Thank you for the letter regarding PIP. With regards to PIP, to qualify an applicant must have been awarded 12 points for the Planning and Following a Journey descriptor or 8 points for more for the Moving Around descriptor. Unfortunately, based on the scores awarded in the letter, the automatic qualifying criteria under PIP has not been met.

I have sent a email over the weekend and that was the answer I’ve had later this afternoon.I’ve got to fill in a able 2 form
and looks like it’s hard to do.I’m not very good at all this
thank you.0 -
Now found this from which it appears that therules in England are different to other parts of UK
https://news.motability.co.uk/everyday-tips/qualifying-for-a-blue-badge-with-personal-independence-payment-pip/
In that case the gov.uk page is misleading.

I’ve had a second look at the link and it 12 points here in Wales. The Able 2 from looks much more difficult than the pip one
I had cab do that one for me
Because I’m dyslexic and struggle with this stuff. So I’m going to try to get help with this. Thanks you0 -
Fire1342, the point I made was that the bit you quoted says “In Wales you are ALSO automatically eligible .. “ which implies that all the criteria for England apply plus some additional ones. It appears that this is not actually correct,0

Yes that’s it
i have to do this for a Blue Badge
best to refer the application for independent assessment.
