Reasonable adjustments for exams (NEBOSH general certificate)
Options
Hello, I've just joined after speaking to a lovely Scope advisor.
Has anybody had any dealings with NEBOSH and had problems with them recognising disabilities and allowing reasonable adjustments. My exam is 2 weeks away and I've hit huge problems and been asked to arrange for the assistance I need, and to pay for it myself. I need to arrange for a language modifier and have all the details to them by the cut off on Monday. has anyone come across this before?

Hello @RE45 and a warm welcome to our online community. How are you today?
This isn't something I've come across before and I'm sorry you're experiencing these difficulties in accessing the reasonable adjustments you need for the exam. What exactly have NEBOSH said as to why they can't provide a language modifier? Also, you mentioned problems with them recognising disability, have you provided medical evidence? The NEBOSH Policy on access arrangements, reasonable adjustments and special consideration says:...where the implications of the difficulty are not obvious, such as for learning difficulties (such as dyscalculia and dyslexia), the Learning Partner will be required to provide additional evidence of the effect of the impairment on the learner’s performance in the assessment. A letter/report from professionals (eg therapists, sensory impairment specialists, medical consultant) should be provided and contain details of the learner’s disability. The specialist evidence provided must be current and reflect current circumstancesHave you got a learning partner allocated to you at NEBOSH, who you can discuss this more with? Apologies for all the questions by the way, I'm just trying to get a better picture
NEBOSH do have an appeals process to challenge decisions - section 9 of the policy linked above - however unfortunately there is an admin cost associated with this.
