If an adult is living with their parent and they both claim PIP, can the adult also claim SDP?

If an adult child is living with their parent, and both claim PIP for mental health issues, can the adult child also receive severe disability premium on ESA, if they have Asperger's, need support to leave the home, can manage own hygiene needs, cleaning etc; but lacks motivation to get out of bed, and eat so needs prompting?

Hi @TraceyWoo - & welcome to the community. :)  It's not really about any diagnoses, rather if both adults receive the daily living component of PIP, & there are no other adults living with you (unless they also get a qualifying benefit such as the daily living part of PIP). Please see: https://www.gov.uk/disability-premiums/eligibility

If both get Daily Living PIP and the ESA is the old type of ESA (not new style ESA) and nobody is claiming Carer’s Allowance or the carer element of UC for looking after him, then yes.

The bit I have struck through is not relevant in determining this - it’s simply a matter of what benefits are in payment.
