Wow, what a week it has been :) England are in the final and have a tough test on Sunday but there is no reason why they can't do it. I would like to hold my hand up and admit that I was completely wrong about Southgate's selection, he has got it right at every point of the tournament. I thought he had too many defensive players but look where the squad selection has got us so fair play. I really respected what Southgate said in an interview where he acknowledged those who don't get onto the pitch as being every much as part of this achievement as much as those who do :)
It's been a tough time for everyone and I think watching England perform the way they have and to get where they have has brought a real boost to the country :) I would like to point out and @ernie2009, maybe you could share your thoughts on this, that for England to make a final you need a West Ham player in the team :joy: I'm joking, it's a team effort and they've acted so professionally and like a team. COME ON ENGAND! Thank you

I thought England were brilliant on Wednesday, after the Denmark goal we pretty much controlled the game. Nervous and excited for Sunday, I have no idea what I'm going to do if we win, such uncharted territory :)

It honestly pains me to say it but England only scraped through the match against Denmark thanks to an own goal and a penalty that wasn't.  I have a feeling that Italy may destroy them on Sunday.

Looking at the game after the 30th minute, I think England were well in control of that one and if it wasn't for poor finishing or good goalkeeping we would have had it won in the 90.

Even the first half hour was even.

I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but fingers crossed they can do it.

As a Leeds fan, it's giving me great pleasure to see Rice and Philips dominating that midfield @ernie2009, both lads have been super.

    @Stayce had Italy I believe @easy :)

Disappointing for England. I think Gareth Southgate is doing a news conference as we speak.

I well proud of a young team I think our young team can use this tournament as a learning experience.
I was left with a bit of taste in the mouth that people could people feel right to abuse our black players after game online I hope these people found a punished for their actions

Congratulations to Italy ?? supporters on the community. Italy were the team of the tournament Gianluigi Donnarumma a worthy player of the tournament  too

Obviously gutted England were unable to succeed. Hopefully we’ll go one step further in the World Cup.

Totally agree @Globster It’s time for equality and kindness. Thoughts with Saka, Rashford and Sancho you all did us proud❤️

Absolutely gutted about the result but I think the best team won, England didn't do anywhere near enough during the 120 minutes.

I think we didn’t have a good second half at all, we seemed to retreat into our half and Italy were constantly on the attack, hence the corner and the messy goal. We need busy strikers like theirs.

having said those things, it was a draw even after extra time and I don’t see it as a loss.

    ? ? ?
    well be back!

We will be back indeed @leeCal

It reminded me of the Croatia semi-final at the World Cup. Score early, but progressively get deeper and deeper until the goal feels inevitable.

Yes that’s true @Ross_Scope exactly so.

we need potent strikers to mount counter attacks. At the moment it’s almost a ten or less man team. Imagine what we could do if we had a Chiesa or two because what we achieved was impressive enough. Then we could win the World Cup ?

Well done to Italy! Having said that, the England team are winners in my eyes. They exceeded expectations, they brought joy to a severely traumatised country, their behaviour both on and off of the pitch has been to the highest of standards. They demonstrated what football is truly about, coming together.
It is truly disgusting that some of the players have received online abuse. Those who are doing the abusing have absolutely no place in football nor in society. I believe those players who stood up and took penalties have key qualities that many of us will never have, to stand in front of 60,000+ people and take a penalty takes guts, I salute them. Those of us who truly love and understand football, must wrap our arms around these players and show them how much respect we have for them, both as people and players.  There is absolutely no place for racism in football nor in society. Thank you.
