Regarding PIP renewals

hi,
i was one of the lucky people who received the information that i would be having my PIP renewed at a later date, 2023, last year, only to receive a ‘review’ of my PIP claim in March of this year.
i received the forms and sent them back the same day. The cut off date was June 10th. Stupidly, i did not send the form back by recorded delivery. So subsequently i received ANOTHER letter telling me that they did not receive my renewal claim.
i spent close on an hour on the telephone waiting for them to pick up. Finally they did and told me, oh, dear how unfortunate that my PIP renewal form had not yet arrived and that, let’s see if i can’t work back how many days it was since it should have arrived and , oh, dear perhaps we should send another one out, just in case the original one turns up, which i’m sure it will, it’s only been a month since it was supposed to have arrived haha, perhaps we ought to send out another form, what do you think haha? I assented to another form being sent out. Because i am a nasty suspicious person i recorded the entire conversation and informed the person at the end of conversation i was doing so. She didn’t sound too thrilled about that.
Eventually some three weeks later a new form arrived. This time i filled it in photocopied it and sent the thing back recorded post. Or rather my husband did, who sent it back second delivery recorded post. That was on 25th May. My husband tracked the item down, it had been received by someone who only used their initials, JH.
The cutoff for the first form was June 10th. The cut off for the SECOND form was August 10th. So far i’ve heard nothing, no receipt that they have received my second form. I don’t have a mobile phone.
i realise i might be jumping the gun here as it is early days yet. But as i have had no acknowledgement whatsoever when do i expect to hear from them ? And most importantly, do i  expect them to use the same cut off date of the ORIGINAL first form they claim NOT to have received, or the second form which had the cut off date of 10th August?
Sorry, i’m probably jumping the gun here but i have no way of knowing what is happening as they ain’t telling. And i have had very good reason in the past to not trust these people.
Cheers!

Just wanted to say even if someone received it at the dwp it probably still takes a while to actually get to where its meant to go? Because mine took nearly 3 weeks for them to receive it first class post and when I asked why it takes so long they said its because internal post etc? So it can take a while to be acknowledged also I would of thought they will have to go with the second date not first if its been changed/updated on system? Other people are probably more knowledgeable than me but that was my experience with them getting post...
 but good luck with everything hun!

Sorry for your experience @jbeesfan - there is actually no need to send forms by recorded delivery as they're just signed for at a sorting office before being sent to the DWP. Then it can take time before everything's scanned into their systems. In future, just send by ordinary mail, but ask for a free Certificate of Postage at your Post Office. Always keep a copy for future reference, or 'just in case.'

    Hello @jbeesfan
as @Emilyb81 has said, it goes to a central hub, then sent to the proper department that deals with claims. That’s why you get a return date, because it takes time to go round all the departments. Give it time, maybe another week or so, then give them a call. I fully understand your worry, but it does take time. As regarding recording your conversation, did you state that you were doing it at the start of the call? I may be totally wrong, and I’m sure someone will correct me, but there are rules about recording calls. Take care and stay safe.

No, i informed her at the end of the call that i was recording her on speaker phone. My exact word were ‘as you are recording this telephone conversation for training purposes, i am recording it for reasons of veracity, is that ok?’ She said, well, yes i suppose so, and then wished me goodbye. I admit she sounded a bit stunned.
Yes, i’ll give them a week or so. I hate all this. I’ve had chronic osteo-arthritis for over twenty years, amongst other things, none of which are magically going to get better over time. And i’m  nearly 60.

    Hello @jbeesfan
im sorry to hear about your illness, I have the same condition plus extras. Lol ?. I fully understand how stressful this all is, and how difficult it is for everyone to be able to get help with our lives, hopefully it won’t be too much longer to wait. Take care and stay safe.

Yes, the reason i sent the second one by recorded delivery was because a month after i returned the first one, they sent me a reminder saying they hadn’t received it, and when i telephoned they also claimed that they had never received it. As i had sent the first with just the pre-paid envelope and filled it in and returned it a good four  weeks previously, i wasn’t going to chance it a second time. At least this time i have proof of postage and that it had arrived at the central hub even though it was only signed by two initials. And i have made a photocopy of the second form as well.

The worst thing about this is that my PIP claim makes up my entire income. My husband is ten years my senior (68) and my PIP ties in with Pension Credit and if we lose it for some reason, that leaves us in a fairly perilous financial predicament or the horrors of Universal Credit. I’ve even contemplated going back to work, but i can’t think of a job where i could be gainfully employed where i have to sit down all the time, can’t walk or stand, only have the use of my left hand and have short term memory problems, at the very best. I’m of the age where i’ve had my pension backdated to 67, and have no modern skills in the job market.
My great-grandfather died in a workhouse and i wake up at night sometimes thinking i’m set on the same course!

Hello @jbeesfan, sorry to hear that. Hopefully things will work out for you both.
