Hi and welcome to the community

You are lucky as people who applied last year are still waiting for an assessment and dwp are quoting 10 months for the process from application

They say it is 8 to 10 weeks to get a decision from assessment

Some do get paid before letter that is because letter and payment are released at same time and letter takes longer to get to you

    Hi @Amanda2020

Good luck with the outcome of your PIP claim.  It's difficult for us to offer a reliable timeframe given the variation across the country but fingers crossed for you hearing sooner rather than later.

As not to confuse you: I've moved your thread into our PIP, DLA and AA category and tweaked the title to help others spot your question.

Best wishes and if you could keep us updated that would be fab.

    Hi Welcome to the community,

I had my telephone assessment on Tuesday 29th June and had payment in my bank account on Thursday 15th July. I received the letter saying I was awarded PIP on Monday 19th July. So took 2 1/2 weeks from assessment to decision.

    Hope this helps,

However you need to remember that this is only one experience and the wait times vary from area to area. You will obviously hear of people waiting various times and this is because there is no definite time frame, it takes however long it takes to be fair.

@Amanda2020 sorry but you are no where near a decision yet, the average wait after assessment is around 8 weeks, when you get a copy of the assessment that won't be a decision just a recommendation although the DWP usually go with that.

why do you presume your assessment will be successful? If it isn't, then you won't get any money anyway.

I think in the same light, why should they feel like they havn't got an award and just give up. I think in these instances you just have to be hopeful and presume your going to get an award unless your told otherwise, especially if you know you should be entitled to one.

I think we should just give out postive vibes and stay hopeful for people, and then be there and support them further when things don't go to plan.

I am sorry, my post came across a bit harsh. I hope you will be successful, but it is a long waiting game. Good luck (to us all!)
