Enhanced Mobility? I've been drafting parts, any thoughts on this?

Most of my pip form and wca form just had boxes filled in with 'see attached '
I sent loads of info, tried to make it easier for them to wade through by using highlighter on what I considered the more relevant points.

I was concerned about asking for evidence from a gp so just asked for a copy of my medical records and sent the appropriate ones in.

Hi @OverlyAnxious I am so sorry you are having so many problems. Looking at the copy of the form DWP have sent you for completion it needs to be back with them by the 28th August 2021 or your benefit will stop. Have you nearly completed or will you ask for an extension a little difficult if you do not use the phone? Good luck.
I can't use phones so will have to get it done and posted next week.  As long as it's posted by next weekend it should get through in time I hope.  The front page of the form seems to contradict itself, stating that it 'will' stop in one sentence, and then that it 'may' stop in the grey shaded area!  That's about as useful as the part where it says 'if you would like braille, call the number'...  How are blind people going to read that!?  I'm sure it could be worded more appropriately.

I have typed up much of it now, and can copy across some of the examples from the GP letter as mentioned above, but wouldn't have the time to handwrite it in short busts each day.

On a slightly different subject, does anyone know if they refer to evidence from last time?  Around 2 years ago I had a report from a mental health service that said they couldn't help which I sent as evidence for the tribunal...will they still have that or should I send another copy?  Reason I ask is because I don't have it to hand and it could take a while to find - which would be better spent of form-filling if they already have it.

Send another copy. If you can't find it now focus on competing the form and get that sent off. When you find the report you can send it later with a covering note saying that you it want it taken into consideration as additional evidence.

I sent a minimum of three examples for each activity.

It’s easy to overthink, and it’s the hardest thing to turn it off. I really sympathise with you and I do hope you’re ok.

It may be triggering if you’re getting no help filling in the form. Just explain in detail what happens for each activity. The assessor doesn’t know you, just because you have these issues doesn’t mean that they automatically understand or know that you can or can’t do things or why. Nobody is against you and while you feel you deserve pip and rightfully so, explain why. Fight for yourself.

Got the rest of it done yesterday afternoon.  And I've found the report and got that copied today, along with copying and printing a few other bits of evidence.  I have a little more external evidence than last time so hopefully that's a good sign.

I've lost focus for today but am planning on the final proof-read tomorrow before print.  And will get the handwritten parts done tomorrow and Wednesday hopefully.  Should be able to post Friday, there's a post box right near my flat luckily.  :)

Out of interest, which font is easiest to read for most people?  Did the Romans know what they were doing or is it better to go with a sans serif as on here?

Oh I'd go comic sans everytime  :D

I'm sure the Romans knew their stuff though...

Finished, I think!  Answered 7 of the questions, across 6 pages of A4, with paragraph breaks to make it easier to read.  Hopefully that's not too long.  I've tried to focus on details and write about actual events that have occurred recently as suggested in this thread.  I won't be at all surprised if I don't get any Mobility unless they have more discretion around the descriptors than I think.  But I do believe I've easily got enough on the daily living side to keep my current enhanced award there.

Chose Calibri font which is a sans serif.  I find it easy to read myself but can't often generalise based on my own preferences!   :D

Any final words of wisdom before I commit it to print?  :#

I know it's not easy but trying to read it objectively can be really useful. Imagine you're someone else reading it, someone who can't relate to your experiences and has no understanding of you, has never heard of your conditions, doesn't know your history. Would they understand how your daily living and mobility are impacted? Is there anything they could incorrectly assume that needs more clarification? What assumptions might they make from what you've written? It may seem obvious to you but would it be to someone else?

For example if you've put "I can't cook reliably because I have OCD so it takes too long and is stressful and makes my other symptoms worse", someone with no knowledge of OCD wouldn't be able to score you, plus it doesn't explain how OCD impacts you specifically or how it impacts your ability to prepare food.

It's also important to remember that it can be about the help you need, not the help you're actually receiving.

Really wishing you the best of luck @OverlyAnxious. Is it just the mobility descriptor you've found difficult to answer? Good call on the fonts, I'm a fan of Calibri too.

No, but that's the area I've really had to wrestle the OCD with...hence all the reassurance seeking in this thread lol!  As I don't neatly fall into the mobility descriptors, and it's been so variable over the last year, the OCD is constantly telling me that I'm lying, or I'm putting it on, and I'm a terrible person for even attempting mobility.  The food prep and mixing with people questions were a bit easier to deal with as I can see the descriptor that I should fit for those and they are where I scored points before.

Just to wrap this thread up...I got the forms to the post box yesterday, and they will have been collected this morning.

It's now out of my hands for a while at least.  Thanks all for the help so far.  :)
