Hi, I'm spensleys! My son's PIP award has ended + we've received a new claim form. Is this right?

Can anybody offer advice please, I support my son who suffers from mental health problems, he was awarded pip ( after an appeal ) the claim was backdated to October 2018.We have just received a letter to say this will be ending on the !st of October 2021 unless we contact the DWP, this was done last week and we have received an entirely new claim form, I was under the impression that this should be a review form ? and not a new claim.Any advice please, Thank you Sue.

Hello @spensleys and a warm welcome to our community, how are you doing today?
Was your son awarded his PIP after a tribunal appeal? If so, it's right that you've received a new claim form rather than a review as this is standard practice. Do you feel confident filling it in or is there anything you might struggle with?
Just to advise: I've moved your thread to our PIP, DLA and AA category and added your question in the title to help other members spot it and reply0 -
Hi @spensleys - & welcome to the community. If PIP has been awarded by the DWP, then you would normally get a review form about 6 months before PIP was due to end. However, if awarded by a tribunal, you hear about 14 weeks before the claim is due to end, & need to complete a new claim form (PIP2) again. So this is correct.

One of my anxious acquaintances recently received the short review form. This confused us both as he went through tribunal last time.
However, he didn't win the tribunal first time, they found an error of law afterwards (I think!). Would that be the reason for a short review instead of a new claim?0
