Hi all,
Hope you are all surviving!
You are all very kind people, and have helped me regards my PIP. The MR has now been sent to the DWP so just hoping and praying now. I will keep you informed!
I have had a scare regards one of my parents, and it has made me think about my future...I am looking into housing lists now.
I just wanted to ask, I have been feeling very lonely lately. Does anyone know off any clubs in the St.Albans area that people may even use on here that help disabled people? I looked into a few, but they are too full on for my disabilities, and did not feel comfortable.
Just trying to make new friends.
Thanks in advance!
Stay blessed!
Jason

    Hi @Jason1 :)

    Good luck with your MR!

What kind of club are you looking for, and where have you looked already? For example, are you looking for a club that's based around a hobby, or would you rather it be a purely social or support group? Would you like the club to only be open to disabled people, or does it just need to be accessible for you? Giving some further information about what you're looking for might help our members to give you some suggestions.

    Hi @Jason1 ,

I’m not sure what your disability is as your profile is private so these might not suit you.

I’m aware of the community project of Trinity Church in St. Albans. They’re having daily clubs and activities like arts and crafts. It’s for people with mental health issues and learning disability.

St Paul’s church also has weekday activities including coffee mornings and walking groups. These are open to everyone.

Then there’s the Jim McDonald centre in Hatfield. They’ve got sports like bowls, darts, day outings, dancing etc. They cater for the elderly and people with disabilities so I guess accessibility shouldn’t be an issue.

I visited these clubs a few years ago, and they were all very friendly and supportive.

    Hello Miss Marple,
Thank you for taking the time to reply, very much appreciated!
I have arthritis all over my body, fused bone in my ankles and swollen knees! Also recovering from depression.
I will look into all that you have suggested, thank you for taking the time to reply and hope you are o.k. xx

hi @Jason1 - hope the MR goes well. :) I don't know if the following will be of interest to you, but hopefully when it's easier to meet up, they do seem to have lunches in your area (well at least the Home Counties are mentioned), & we have heard only good about these. Please see: https://outsiders.org.uk/club/the-outsiders-club/   Keep in touch, Jason.

    Afternoon Tori,
Thank you for taking the time to reply, and thank you for your kindness on my MR!
I have tried various groups, but trying to find a group that caters for my disability, (arthritis, swollen knees, depression and fused bones in my right ankle and left arm).
If it is based around something that I am interested in, then great. I love art, walking (very slow), helping others, trees, nature or wildlife, but if it is something else I like then great!
I am a good listener too, and enjoy social or a support group.
Happy to go to a none disabled group, but found in past they can discriminate against me, then it knocks my confidence.
Thank you, and hope you are well. xxx
