Crystals and healing stones

Hi, do any of you use crystals or other stones that give you  healing? I'm thinking of  buying some for somebody else. If you use them do they work?

I've been googling away about what they all mean, if anything. I have a bracelette with black onyx stones  with a tiger eye on it.  Apparently used against negative energy and stuff lol. Don't know if works when I ware it.  Belonged to someone else, I had it when they passed away.
