Hi everyone, nice to join the forum! I too recieved the letter about "New Style ESA" phone appointment today, even though I'm in support group. Scheduled for next week. I left a message on my U/C journal asking for more info because my anxiety has shot throuh the roof with it. Mind somewhat at ease with previous posts, so thanks for that! I will keep you posted if I hear anything further. Stay safe everyone!

Hi Kurt. I’ve had a call today about it. Mines scheduled for January. Have yours yet ? How did it go ?
I’m really unnerved because she said it will be fairly regular now so get used to it.

If you're in the Support Group and you claimed New style ESA during the pandemic then this appointment will be a one off and no further appointments will be needed. It will be just to agree to your work commitments, which will simply be to agree to report any changes.

Thank you. That’s what I’m hoping reading other posts. But it’s just her comment I’m your work coach and these calls will be regular now. So you’ll have to used to them ??

Work coaches often say things that are incorrect.

Thank you. I hope so. If she decides she wants to ring me on a regular basis for a ‘support chat’ I don’t know what I can do if anything to stop her. She said I can be sanctioned if I don’t take part.

As advised, if you're definitely in the Support Group this will be a one off appointment. You shouldn't believe everything a work coach tells you.

Thank you. I hope so. If she tells me she’s ringing me again in a few months I’ll come and post for help ??
we had something similar when my partner briefly lost her job and we had to do joint UC claim. A work coach told me she’d be ringing every few months and scheduled an appt. I complained and by magic the appt disappeared from the diary ?

fancy doing stuff like this before Xmas. Bloody grinches

As you're claiming Universal Credit then it will be LCWRA rather than Support Group.. @cherbear i'm assuming you've been found to have LCWRA and not LCW? If it's just LCW then the appointments would continue, depending on your commitments.

Hi no sorry. We had a very brief UC claim when my partner lost her job. We don’t anymore she got another job. I’m on ESA support group since 2020 and PIP. I’ll see what happens when she rings. If she insists in ringing again I’ll say no thank you and see what happens. Thanks for replying sorry for confusing.

Thanks for confirming that. As advised, it's just a one off appointment to agree to your commitments.

Hi again everyone, thanks for all the comments and support! It's really nothing to worry about. My phonecall lasted about 3 minutes and all she said was it's the commitments thing which was put on hold for covid. I recieved a copy of the form a few days later, electronically signed. She did however acknowledge that the initial letter could have been better worded!
    Stay safe everyone!
