Hi, i have been providing UC sick notes for over 12 months, and last month i had a word capabillity assessment. I have today received the letter that says i no longer have to supply sick notes due to the assessment found that i am not capable to work.
It says that within the next seven days they will let me know if i am owed any backdated money. It says the extra money isawarded 3 months after the date you gave us evidence of your health condition.
I do not understand what this means, and does it mean from the assessment or does it mean three months after i submitted sicknotes. uc already gives us extra money for my wife being a carer around £163 a month.
can anyone share any light on this please

What does the decision actually say. If it says you’ve been found to have Limited capability For Work Related Activity this means you’ll receive an extra £343 per month from the 4th month of your claim after you first reported your health condition. If it says you’ve been found to have Limited Capability for Work there’s no extra money each month for this.
Regardless of which group you will also be entitled to a work allowance which means they may owe you some money if your wife has worked at all since you reported you health condition.0 -
it says limited capability for work and work related activity. My wife has been working but only part time as she looks after me

Then you'll be entitled to the extra £343.63 per month from the 4th month after you reported your health condition, provided you continued to send the fit notes without any gaps. How much you're owed will depend on when you reported your health condition and the dates of your assessment periods (or when you usually receive your money)The work allowance means you can earn a certain amount of money each month before the 55% deductions apply. If you claim for help with your rent then it's £335 per month, if you don't claim for help with the rent then it's £557 per month. The work allowance applies to your wife as well. However, before December 2021 the work allowance and deductions were less. Detail here. https://www.entitledto.co.uk/help/work-allowance-universal-creditIt can often a take a few weeks for them to work out how much they owe you and they will recalculate your past statements so they can work out exactly how much they owe you, so you may want to keep copies of your current statements because once recalculated the new ones will replace the old ones.

That mens you will get an extra £343.63/month backdated to the fourth payment after you reported your health condition. If you getting one already a Work Allowance will be applied to the claim and they will have to recalulate the deductions made for your wife's earnings.

i have just got my new statement but not received any notification about back payment. they are paying me the £343.63 per month and also the £163 carers element as my wife reduced her hours to look after me. basically i have someone with me 24/7. I was surprised that i still get to keep the carers element. But this will help a lot with energy bills etc as i have the heating on all day during the winter.I am not sure how they work out what is owed. But if i do get anything back then it will help with some adaptions i need for my home to make it safer. Even if i only got a £200, it would help pay for steps for the back door with a rail to kepp me safe. i have been sending them sick notes for around ten months, coming up to eleven months.0

As explained herepoppy123456 said:you'll be entitled to the extra £343.63 per month from the 4th month after you reported your health condition, provided you continued to send the fit notes without any gaps. How much you're owed will depend on when you reported your health condition and the dates of your assessment periods (or when you usually receive your money)Your wife claims the carers allowance for lookin after you, so this will continue as normal. With aids for your home you can refer yourself for a needs assessment and anything that's needed will be given by your local Authority. https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/social-care-and-support-guide/help-from-social-services-and-charities/getting-a-needs-assessment/

Also to add, once your statements are recalculated they will replace your existing ones so you may want to take copies of the ones that are there.

No worries. If you can tell us what date exactly you reported your health condition and the dates of your assessment periods (or when you usually receive payment each month) then we can tell you when the LCWRA element is paid from. At least then you will have some idea of how many months is owed. There could also be extra money on top of this as your wife was working as well, you'll be entitled to the work allowance. This means a certain amount of money can be earned each month before the deductions apply.0

i provided my first sick note on feb 9th 2021. i receive my payments on the 1st of each month. my assessment was on 14th january. It is very strange because some of the dates online have changed. it says my interview was on the 19th, and then shows a letter on the 19 with the decision. my normal dates they check for earnings is 25 to the 24th of each month. my wife earns £850 each month.

Thanks for that information. This means you reported your health condition during assessment period 25th Jan to 24th Feb. Your waiting period will be as follows...Feb/March, March/April, April/May.. LCWRA payable from assessment period 25th May.. to 24th June, with first payment being 1st July. Therefore they owe you £343.63 per month from July assessment period, which is 7 months. They also owe you some money because of the work allowance, this means you can earn either £335 per month if you claim for help with the rent or £557 per month if you don't. (before the deductions apply) Please note that the work allowance did increase in December 2021 so it would be less before this. Full details in link. https://www.entitledto.co.uk/help/work-allowance-universal-creditGive it another couple of weeks and if you don't receive a letter on your journal telling you how much they owe you then put a message under the payment section to ask about the money they owe.
