Hi @Carlou
Welcome to Scope's forum. It is great to see you have joined us.
Unfortunately, PIP is not an area of my professional knowledge. This means I am hoping someone with more knowledge in this area can respond to you soon.
If you feel comfortable with answering a question, I would just like to ask you if you have any support for managing your mental health conditions and caring for your son? I can imagine that both can get tough sometimes and you deserve support to manage them both.
You definitely deserve it. You deserve all the support. In fact, the only case I would encourage you to adjust the recommendation is if you needed to put your mental health first! In which case, I would ask if someone can go to tribunal with you or on your behalf.
We hear you and we are really sorry to hear you are struggling with your mental health. Some resources you might find useful are:- OCD UK (https://www.ocduk.org/)
- Bipolar UK (https://www.bipolaruk.org/)
- Anxiety UK (https://www.anxietyuk.org.uk/)
- Samaritans (Call 1116 123 or email jo@samaritans.org)
- Mind (https://www.mind.org.uk/information-support/types-of-mental-health-problems/bipolar-disorder/self-care/) (https://www.mind.org.uk/information-support/types-of-mental-health-problems/obsessive-compulsive-disorder-ocd/self-care-for-ocd/) (https://www.mind.org.uk/information-support/types-of-mental-health-problems/anxiety-and-panic-attacks/self-care/)
I hope my response helps but if you need to talk, need anything to be clarified or have any further questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to us again soon!0 -

No one deserves to be awarded PIP. People are awarded because of how their conditions affect them against the PIP descriptors. If a claimant doesn't meet the descriptors they won't score the points needed for an awarded. It's good that you have someone helping you because a lot of people don't have this. If you haven't already given a couple of real world examples of what happened the last time you attempted that activity for each descriptor that applies to you then you should do this. Include information such as where you were, what exactly happened, did anyone see it and what the consequences were. Although the person helping you should have already done this and sent it to HMCTS.0

Hello @Carlou thanks so much for reaching out here on the community. I hope everyone's replies have been helpful.
I'm very glad to hear your son has good support in college, you must be very proud of him. It sounds like you're a good support for each other. Sometimes it's not easy to accept help, but I think you're doing a great job, especially asking for help here.
While @poppy123456 is correct in saying PIP is awarded based on how someone's condition affects them against the descriptors, I think it's also true that @Carlou deserves the opportunity to challenge the previous PIP decision, even if they say they sometimes feel that other people need it more. You are of course allowed to challenge the decision @Carlou
Do you have someone who could sit with you during the phone call? If you find it useful, you can note down some examples of how your condition affects the descriptors and keep those notes next to you while you're on the call.
Thank you for being open about your mental health history, I can't imagine how difficult it's been, but you're taking really positive steps to manage everything. I'll be sending you an email just to check in with you today- but if you do feel you need extra support then just shout, we're here.
