Hi guys hope you all well.
I’d like advice on weather I can claim my adult sons carers allowance and claim UC. I’m in part time work at moment and my wife works as a TA in a school. I don’t really want to stop working but I may have to due to his needs but I can really afford to do it yet but would like to get some advice for you people. Thanks in advance and hope you understand what I mean thanks.

Whether you're entitled to any UC will depend on your joint circumstances with your wife because it's a means tested benefit.Do you or your wife currently claim any benefits? Are you asking if you can claim carers allowance for looking after your son? If so then your son must be claiming a qualifying disability benefit such as PIP daily living or DLA mid/high rate care. Do they claim any other benefits? As you're working you must make sure you earn no more than £128 per week. https://www.gov.uk/carers-allowance/eligibilityIf you claim carers allowance and UC together then the carers allowance will be deducted in full from any UC entitlement. You can use a benefits calculator to check entitlement to UC https://www.entitledto.co.uk/benefits-calculator/Intro/Home?cid=ccab93f5-77d9-433c-b170-ab621e5bc25bOr speak to an advice agency near you for a full benefits check. https://advicelocal.uk/
