Thank you, Sandy; we are both really looking forward to 'eventually' meet.
I'm unsure if there was mis-information about meeting others, rather than Scope said that the online community did not provide a meeting place for members living in a,b,c areas. I could be wrong too.
Sorry if this mis-informed Lisa. As MarkM88 says, it can depend upon the circumstances. I have absolutely no hesitation in meeting poppy.

I am still in touch and made great friends with at least three people on scope and talk to them outside of scope so it hasn't affected my friendships

It's fab news that poppy and chirads are makeing good friends

Thats so lovely I’m really pleased for yous. I’m sure yous will be friends for many years to come.

I got friendly with a wonderful woman Lulu I met on here over a year ago. We swapped emails and after a while phone numbers. She lives so far from me but her and her husband were in Glasgow for a few days before Christmas, we met up for something to eat it was so amazing to meet her.

Im sure we will always be friends.

So enjoy your meet up ❤️

Just for clarification: we don't have a policy regarding members meeting up, but we do strongly discourage the sharing of personal information to safeguard everyone.

That being said, as @poppy123456 mentioned, her and @chiarieds have now been speaking for many years, have taken lots of precautions, and from the sounds of it are meeting up in a safe space and with support.

@lisathomas50: I won't go into the details publicly, but I believe the situation you are referring to was a different set of circumstances. If you'd like to discuss this please don't hesitate to email me.

@poppy123456 and @chiarieds, I'm really pleased you've found and formed such a strong connection here on the community and I hope you both have a wonderful time at lunch in a few weeks time. We look forward to hearing all about it!

Again, though, it comes down to circumstances. Your asking for trouble if you start handing out personal information to someone you don’t know compared to two individuals who have known each other for over two years.

There might not be a rule, but there is common sense.
This is very true and great advice @MarkM88. It's very important to be cautious when sharing personal information online and meeting up with people you've met online. There's a Wikihow with some good tips for doing just that.

@Adrian_Scope thank you for that. I absolutely agree that precaution should be taken when sharing personal information.
It took a long time for me to give my phone number to @chiarieds but i did ask her before i did and i wouldn't have done it unless i was 100% certain i trusted her, there were no doubts about any trust issues. She is one of my dearest friends, who i very much respect.
We are meeting in a shopping centre and i'm taking my daughter with me. There will be many more years of friendship ahead and i very much look forward to meeting her and her family.
We will both definitely report back here later that day. Thanks again everyone!!

Maybe as suggested, email Adrian, to address this.

Agreed with @MarkM88 here, please email Adrian to speak to him rather than continue on here.

No one said it was secretive. It's just not really appropriate on this thread.
