Pip claim. How much information is too much?

I'm currently filling in my PIP form and going through evidence for my physical and mental health. The only thing is that with my mental health assessments the evidence talks about trauma/abuse along with how my mental health affects me. I have a range of assessments from 2018-2020. Would this be too much information? Is 2018 too long ago?

    Hi and welcome

The evidence you submit should be relevant to how your condition affects you against the 12 descriptors

Often medical evidence is not relevant as it doesnt detail how you manage daily tasks like cooking   eating , bathing , dressing , toileting and so on

If any of you evidence does include this then send it

Hi, thanks for the reply. It does state how my condition affects me against 2 of them. It's just that these ones are from 2019. Is that too long ago?

Hi @missronzo - & welcome to the community from me also. As Jane says, relevance is key. I wouldn't worry about sending info from 2019, if that's the case. However, if you have say 2 reports that say much the same thing, I'd then use the most recent one.
Remember too that your own anecdotal evidence, is the most important.

So, try & give a couple of recent, detailed examples as to the difficulty you face for each applicable descriptor, i.e. when did it happen, where, what happened, did anyone see this, & were there any consequences to attempting/doing an activity?

Say if you can't do an activity 'reliably,' i.e. safely, to an acceptable standard, repeat as often as one would reasonably expect, or if it takes you much longer than someone without a disability.

Just complete a few questions at a time, & you can always add extra pages at the end, ensuring you put your name & National Insurance number on each page. You can also ring the PIP enquiry line on 0800 121 4433 to ask for extra time to complete the form, & you will be given another 2 weeks without question.

Keep a copy of everything, & get a free Certificate of Posting from your Post Office when sending your form off. Please do come back with any questions.
